Awards and Recognition
Awards from the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), the NCFR Sections, NCFR Focus Groups, Certified Family Life Education (CFLE) Advisory Board, and the Affiliate Councils recognize individuals and groups who further the interests of the NCFR and/or exemplify the standards to which members aspire. Award winners are distinguished colleagues who have dedicated themselves to working in the family field, and have given outstanding service.
Members nominate other members for the awards, send supporting evidence, and list other people who can verify the nominee's qualifications. A selection committee evaluates the applicants and selects the winner(s). Award winners are given special recognition at the NCFR Annual Conference and in the NCFR Report member magazine.
The deadline for most awards is May 1 of the year in which the award will be presented (unless indicated otherwise). Awards with special deadlines include the Reuben Hill Award (March 30), Jessie Bernard Awards (April 15), Outstanding SoTL Paper Award (April 15), Affiliate Councils awards (June 1), and the CFLE Special Recognition Award (Sept. 1).
Student and New Professional Awards—designated as "SNP"—are available to anyone who is an undergraduate or graduate student, or anyone within five years of their last degree earned.
Congratulations to the recipients of NCFR's 2017 awards!
